The manufacturer located in the Laguna region, BOMBAS RODASE, developed a sustained business thanks to the incorporation of state-of-the-art technology for turning, and now leads to the opportunities to come with the reconfiguration of North American manufacturing.
Bombas Rodase is based in Torreon, Coahuila, opened operations for the first time in 1985 as a service workshop for agricultural wells located both around Torreon and in areas in southern Chihuahua and Durango.
Starting in 2005, they began to provide maquila services of components for industrial pumps both foundry and machining for the United States market, an operation that was definitively consolidated since 2010.
Initially they had Horizontal Lathes, such as the Genos 400, LB 45 and LB 4000 and Vertical Machining Centers, which is the case of the V760ex. " All from the OKUMA brand.
The challenge
The operations of machining brought them new challenges, because although in the manufacture of their own products, the design and engineering are made inhouse, which its open the possibilities to make any adjustment based on its same parameters, when it is manufactured for third parties it has the responsibility to conform strictly to the customer's specifications. Technology therefore plays a key role in terms of reliability and quality.
As the pumps business grew, like the maquila business, they realized that, because of the vast market, it was best to focus only on a certain type of operations, thus acquiring a profile of high specialization in the production of parts with certain types of geometries, sizes and operations, which have already become its competitive advantages.
The HEMAQ solution
Not only is it a matter of machinery, but also regarding the peripheral equipment they have had the advice and support of HEMAQ engineers. Among other things, support was offered for the analysis and implementation of solutions with living tools.
"We had not worked with these types of tools in a Horizontal Lathe, and we liked that we could add a greater number of processes in a single operation thanks to the mobility and configuration of more than one fixture." The director of BOMBAS RODASE José Luis Rodríguez, commented.
Derived from the support received by the HEMAQ team and to the operational strategic convenience, the engineering group of BOMBAS RODASE made the decision not to vary much the equipment of machines, so this allows them to know better the technology that they employ and ensure the operational efficiency.
In addition, "we are very convinced of the OKUMA equipment, not only because of the high technological value and reliability (the first machine we bought in 1998 is still in operation), but also because of the unbeatable attention of the sales and service area of their exclusive distributor," says the director of the Torreon company.
He adds that it is a problem-solving issue, which is practically immediate. "When a problem arises, technicians soon know what the cause is and help us solve it. Although service has a cost, it will always be higher when you have the machines stopped".
Our relationship with HEMAQ team has been key, especially when new equipment is involved, as they support them with feasibility studies, quotes, design and simulation. This facilitates the consolidation of projects, especially when this includes investment in new machines, since the return on investment is guaranteed.
Results Obtained
With renewable energy conservation, they are always looking to make products with higher performance coefficient. They develop prototypes to test base indicators such as fluid behavior. They carry out validations and seek that efficiency is always very close to that of leading transnational brands in the market.
The manufacture of high-depth pumps is undoubtedly a highly competitive and high-tech niche, where the performance of each component counts. Without the right technology to manufacture, the business simply would not surface.
Did you know…
At the end of the decade of the 90´s, BOMBAS RODASE in collaboration with the HEMAQ team, installed its first CNC equipment of the brand OKUMA, fact that allowed them to add the precision and quality required as they expanded their sales of pumps for deep wells throughout the country and for the pumping sumps of the system water operators.
